Meditation for children is not much different from meditation done by adults. The only difference is the modification of time, attention span, and stress level shown by a particular child. In addition, child meditation also requires guidance from adults.

Not infrequently the confidence of a child does not grow well. They choose to isolate themselves from others and find it difficult to socialize because of their inferiority.

This can be caused by pressure from oneself and others, as disturbed by other children.

So that confidence does not sink, children’s meditation can be an alternative to making it grow.

If this mind therapy is applied, empathy, security, and equanimity can be obtained. In addition, children who meditate tend to be happier, foster compassion for others, and higher self-confidence.

  1. In a way, it’s no wonder that children develop anxiety and stress disorders. We live in a  world where Real threats are present, and the unknown can be scary.Even though we think we can protect our children from all fear and stress throughout their lives, however, the better response is to teach them how to handle the hard times.

  2. I recently started meditation and I do agree that it has so many benefits.

However I wish I had started when I was a child, imagine what type of adult I would be?
The benfits of concentration and patience are great to say the least.

  3. As a child I never had time to meditate. My schedule was pretty packed. I woke up at 7am to get ready to bike to school from 8am-3pm. Then I had to go to football, baseball or basketball practice, depending what season it was. Then I had my Kung Fu or Karate classes and after that I biked my way home. When I got home I had dinner then practiced my trumpet or my accordion for an hour. Did my homework, took a shower then went to bed. This was  pretty much my schedule from grade school thru high school. I guess I could have meditated during summers but didn’t think of it.

    1. Hello Courtney,

Wow, you were really busy. I spent most of my education time in Indonesia. I had long days at school from 7 am to 3 pm if we had extra classes. During normal school days, we would have school from 7 am to 1 pm.  Then I would go to join activities with clubs at school from 4 pm to 5.30 pm.
